MIGRATING SCRIPTSERVER® FORMS FROM OPENVMS TO THE PAN PRINTING SYSTEM

Contents | Index | About the Icons

Abstract

Compares implementation of forms setup on ScriptServer® For OpenVMS and the ScriptServer® PAN Printing System (PAN).

Comparison of Form Image and Data Registration Setup (Layout)

The following table compares the differences in handling between ScriptServer For OpenVMS and ScriptServer PAN.

In both cases, the form image starts with an Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) file. On PAN, there is no intermediate processing step after uploading the image.

In both cases data registration is controlled with an interface which allows the setting of font, font size, margins and so forth.

Recovering Artwork from the OpenVMS Device Control Library for use with ScriptServer PAN

It has come to our attention that some customers who have been using software forms with ScriptServer For OpenVMS for several years or longer have misplaced their original artwork, or it is in a format which is not readable by present-day illustration applications (GrayMatter retains copies of most of the EPS artwork it has generated for customers).

If you don't have your original artwork, but you have a working ScriptServer For OpenVMS software form, there is no need to panic! The EPS2FORM utility creates a wrapper around the EPS file which can be edited off of the module which is loaded in the device control library without too much difficulty.
