The latest version of the ScriptServer® Printing System emphasizes support for digital document creation and integration with other document tools available from GrayMatter Software.
The major new features in version 6.0 include:
IA-64 support
ScriptServer for OpenVMS now runs natively on 64-bit Itanium-based Integrity servers from Hewlett-Packard.
ScriptServer PAN integration
Allows you to send output from your ScriptServer queues to the ScriptServer PAN printing environment.
PDF repositories
New ghostscript integration allows you to create PDF files automatically with repository queues.
PDF Broker integration
Compatibility with the ScriptServer PDF Broker lets you convert your print documents to PDF and deliver then electronically via e-mail, archiving, or user-defined post-processing with your own script.
Improved self-configuration
Automatically detects and adapts to the level of status reporting available on your printers.
Enhanced DCPS compatibility
PRINT/PARAMETER support has been improved to be compatible with those used by DCPS.

Printer capabilities detection
ScriptServer for OpenVMS automatically senses and configures itself according toe your printers' capabilities.
Transparent integration
Fully integrated as an OpenVMS print symbiont, it is controlled using the familiar DCL commands used with printing, including queue creation and management commands and the PRINT command.
Flexible communications
Communicates with printers using all available methods including TCP/IP, DECnet, serial, and parallel protocols.
Extensize formatting control
The SCRIPT facility can be used as an alternative to the PRINT command, and provides the ability to fine-tune the settings used in laying out text on the page. It also allows you to save and restore settings and to associate them with OpenVMS forms and queues.
Printer hard disks and fonts
Provides facilities to manage font downloading on a temporary or persistent basis, and for managing the contents of printer hard drives.
Replace your preprinted forms with plain-paper versions that are created on the fly.
Printer-independent
Compatible out of the box with any PostScript-capable printer.
Complete error reporting
Print job-level errors are reported via the Print Log at the end of jobs if an error occurs. System-level errors (e.g. paper jam or paper out) are reported via OPCOM.
Flexible paper handling
Supports Letter, Legal, Ledger, Tabloid, A3, A4, A5, B4, and B5 paper sizes, and a wide variety of envelope sizes.
Complete file compatibility
Accepts all print format files, including FORTRAN, COBOL, and 2-byte VFC formats, and
supports the DEC Multi-national Character Set (DECMCS)
