For optimal functionality, we at GrayMatter recommend that whenever possible, set up a direct TCP/IP connection (with backchannel enabled) to the printer. Testing has shown that the following Xerox printers can be set up with this type of TCP/IP connection:
Other models of Xerox printers may also use this same setup procedure,
but again, this has not been tested. To find out if your different model of
Xerox printer can be set up with a direct TCP/IP connection, please refer to
the documentation that came with your printer or contact our technical support
staff for further assistance.
On the Properties page when creating or modifying a queue:
- Communications style is XEROX
- IP Port is 2000
Once a TCP/IP queue has been created, you will need to customize Scriptserver by defining the following logicals:
1) To set the TCP/IP connection port to 2000:
$ DEFINE/SYSTEM "SSV$tcpip-address_TCPIP_PORT" 2000
2) To set the TCP/IP protocol to Xerox:
$ DEFINE/SYSTEM "SSV$tcpip-address_TCPIP_PROTOCOL" XEROX
3) and to have Control-T functionality disabled:
$ DEFINE/SYSTEM "SSV$tcpip-address_CTRLT_SUPPORT" FALSE
NOTE: After defining these logicals, you will need to restart the queue for the new settings to take hold.
