MAXUSERPORT
TUNINGContents | Index | About the Icons
ScriptServer® PAN Printing System (PAN)
stability and performance on Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and
Microsoft Windows 2003 Server is improved by adjusting MaxUserPort
Registry entry.
PAN consists of a number of components which actively communicate with each other. In order to do so, these components reserve and open IP ports. On the Microsoft Windows brand platforms only, collisions within the available pool of ports are experienced; this is not because PAN behaves differently, it is because of apparent differences in the way that Windows manages its pool of ports.
Collisions in the port pool can prevent the PAN components from
communicating with each other efficiently. Adjusting the MaxUserPort
registry entry (which does not exist by default) to a larger value reduces the
likelihood of collisions by allowing Windows a greater range of
port values to choose from when allocating ports.
Create the following Registry entry as a DWORD value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\MaxUserPort
and set it to the value of 50000 (decimal).
Reboot the system.
