Question:

Some of our XENTIS users create and run reports that are shared in a group. There are several groups; Accounting, Manufacturing, etc. For each group of users, how can I get their report definition files (.XCF's) into one central directory?

Answer:

The Setup File parameter DFLT-CMD-LOC contains the default storage location to retrieve and store command files and to store output files. This parameter may be set in either the System Setup File, XENTISSET.DAT, or, if the user modify flag is set to Y, a User Setup File, SETUP.DAT.

The parameter value may be set to a device, a device and directory, a directory, or a logical. If the parameter is set to a device only, then the default file location is the parameter value and the current default directory during a XENTIS session. If the parameter is set to a directory only, then the default file location is the parameter value and the current default device during a XENTIS session.

To use this feature, choose one of the following options:

Set the parameter value to a logical, then assign the logical in each user's login file.
Create a User Setup File in each user's directory and set the parameter to the location (device and directory) of the central directory.
Create a shared User Setup File and set the parameter to the location (device and directory) of the central directory.
