Abstract
The following document discusses compatibility problems with ScriptServer
for OpenVMS Electronic Forms when used with the PostScript
interpreter found in HP LaserJet 4000, 5000, and 8000
models.
Problem Synopsis
ScriptServer Electronic Forms fail when printing to HP LaserJet x000 printers,
generating one of the following symptoms:
- a Print Log with the error %%[Error: undefined; OffendingCommand LM
]%%
- the printer halts with a "XX.X PRINTER ERROR" displayed on the console
The Solution
The main differences between the prior release of SSV$EPS2FORM (V1.6), and
the current release (V2.0) are the removal of several of the restrictions that
were present in version 1.6, including:
- embedded fonts
- embedded bitmapped images
- gradients
- support for larger, more complex EPS files
- support for Adobe Illustrator EPS files
This final restriction can be circumvented by saving Illustrator EPS files in Version 4 or
earlier format.
The problem is due to a particular firmware revision in
the printer.
