PROBLEMS PRINTING FROM SYSTEM DIRECTORIES WITH SCRIPT

If one of the following error messages is reported:

%SYS-F-DNF, Directory not found

%BAS-F-BADDIRDEV, Bad directory for device

while trying to print with the Script facility from a system-level directory, rename the directories as follows:

$ SET DEFAULT SYS$SYSDEVICE:[000000]
$ RENAME VMS$COMMON.DIR SYSCOMMON.DIR
$ RENAME SYSCOMMON.DIR VMS$COMMON.DIR

This is safe and sanctioned by Digital. It may be done while the system is up and running.
