Overview
Whether you're producing reports from a single data base or many, or if you're extracting data from one business application or a dozen, XENTIS will work for you. XENTIS provides you with global data integration. Within a single report, you can select data from a broad range of databases and dictionaries. XENTIS simplifies on-going consolidation of data as well as provides one-time migration from one database to another.
For all dictionary and data base interfaces, XENTIS allows you to produce reports, financial modeling interface files, an word processing interface files to make full use of your decisions support tools.
Dictionaries
XENTIS/Dictionary: XENTIS provides an easy-to-use data dictionary tool. XENTIS/Dictionary provides multiple levels of security to help preserve your sensitive information. It also supports RMS "views" to simplify access to your data. XENTIS/Dictionary supports over 40 data types, plus user-defined data types.
Common Data Dictionary (CDD): XENTIS/Report directly accesses Digital Equipment Corporation's CDD. For CDD users, this direct interface eliminates dictionary conversion, and maintenance of a second dictionary. However, if you wish to take advantage of the advanced features of XENTIS/Dictionary, you can automatically build the XENTIS/Dictionary by copying data definitions from CDD. This makes construction of the dictionary fast and easy.
MAXCIM ECB: XENTIS/Report directly accesses the ECB dictionary used by Computer Associates' MAXCIM Manufacturing software. MAXCIM users merely load XENTIS and they're up and running,
RMS Files
RMS Interface: XENTIS/Report works with RMS-based applications that use indexed, relative or sequential files, XENTIS supports all common OpenVMS data types and allows you to produce reports from data stored by programs written in languages such as COBOL, BASIC, FORTRAN, C, PASCAL, DIBOL, PL/l, and others.
Data Bases
Rdb: XENTIS/Report provides direct, integrated support for Oracle's Rdb relational data base. Reporting from Rdb is exactly the same as reporting from RMS. Users that are familiar with one interface will be immediately productive with the other. In addition, XENTIS is compatible with almost any data base that is compliant with the Digital Standard Relational Interface (DSRI).
Ingres: XENTIS/Report provides direct, integrated support for ASK Corporation's relational data base, Ingres. Using Ingres is as simple as using RMS. Ingres users find XENTIS a powerful, cost-effective alternative for producing simple and complex reports.
Sybase: As with other data bases, XENTIS/Report provides direct, integrated support for Sybase, Inc.'s relational data base. Reporting from a Sybase data base is just as easy as from an RMS data base.
